This chatbot script generator drafts the messages a website or WhatsApp bot needs: a greeting, a menu, an answer for each FAQ, two fallback messages, a short privacy notice before collecting details, the questions that collect those details, hand-off messages for when you are open and closed, and a closing message. Choose a friendly, professional or brief tone and the wording changes. The first three FAQs become menu buttons, with "Talk to a person" always added. You get the script as Markdown, or as JSON for whoever builds the bot. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
How to use it
- Enter the business name, a bot name and a short phrase for what you offer.
- Choose the channel and tone, and add your opening hours and how fast the team replies.
- Add FAQs as "question | answer | short button label", one per line.
- Tick the details the bot should collect before handing over.
- Read the preview, edit any message, then copy or download the script.
How to read the result
The default example is an interiors company on WhatsApp with a friendly tone, three FAQs and a bot that collects a name and phone number. The script has 13 messages and a menu of 4 buttons: the three FAQ labels plus "Talk to a person". The longest message is 192 characters, short enough to read on a phone without scrolling.
Remove the button label from an FAQ and the full question is used instead. "Do you offer free design visits" is 31 characters, so a warning appears: it may be cut off as a WhatsApp button. Add a short label such as "Free design visit" to fix it.
The two hand-off messages matter most. The "open" version promises a reply within the time you set; the "closed" version gives your hours and, if you add one, an urgent contact number. Make sure the team can keep both promises.
Placeholders such as [4 to 6] weeks in the sample answers are there to be replaced; search the script for [ before you publish.

Should a chatbot say it is a bot?
Yes. People should know whether they are talking to a person or an automated assistant, and in some places the law expects it. Saying so in the greeting also sets expectations: people phrase questions more simply and are less frustrated when the bot hands over. Every greeting the generator writes says the bot is automated.
What should happen when the bot does not understand?
Ask once more in different words, then offer a person. Repeating "Sorry, I didn't understand" frustrates people quickly. The script includes a first fallback that asks them to rephrase and a second that offers a hand-off, so nobody gets stuck in a loop.
Can I use the same script on my website and WhatsApp?
Mostly. The messages are the same, but WhatsApp shows short buttons or numbered options, and long labels may be cut off. Choose WhatsApp as the channel and the generator numbers the menu and warns about labels over 20 characters.
