An app development cost calculator is only useful if you can see why the number is what it is, so this page shows every line item. Enter the number of screens, choose platforms, backend and design level, and tick the features you need. The result is a low and a high estimate in US dollars, Indian rupees or UAE dirhams, a rough timeline in weeks, and a table with each item's contribution. It is a planning guide built from generic market ranges, not a quote.
How to use it
- List the screens, including login, settings, empty states and error states. Most first versions have 10 to 20.
- Choose iOS, Android or both, and the backend you expect to need.
- Pick a design level and tick features. Leave out anything that can wait for version two.
- Choose the currency.
- Read the line items and copy the estimate.
How to read the result
A 12-screen app for iOS and Android, with a hosted backend, custom design, sign-up and push notifications, shows about $13,900 at the low end and $39,800 at the high end, over roughly 6 to 16 weeks. The screens line contributes $3,600 to $10,800 and the custom design $2,500 to $7,000, so the number of screens and the design ambition drive most of the range. Dropping to one platform removes $2,000 to $6,000. Adding chat or offline sync adds $2,000 to $6,000 each, and they are the features most often cut from a first release.
Read the low estimate as a focused scope with a hosted backend and standard interactions. Read the high estimate as a product with custom animation, a bespoke API and several integrations. The weeks figure assumes one small team working steadily; it stretches when feedback is slow.
In dirhams the same app shows about AED 51,000 to AED 146,000 at 3.67 per dollar, last checked October 2026. Converted figures are approximate.
Our mobile app development service starts with a scoping sprint that replaces this estimate with a fixed price. If you are weighing an app against a web app, the website cost calculator gives the other side.
Questions
Frequently asked.
Why does iOS and Android together cost more than one platform?
Cross-platform frameworks such as React Native and Flutter share most of the code, but testing, store submission, push notification setup and device-specific fixes still happen twice. The extra is far less than building two native apps, which is why the line item is a few thousand rather than double.
What does a hosted backend mean?
A service such as Firebase or Supabase that provides the database, login and file storage without you running servers. It is quicker and cheaper to start with and fine for most apps. A custom API makes sense when you have complex business rules, existing systems to connect, or strict data requirements.
Is this a quote?
No. The ranges are generic market figures for a small studio, meant for early planning. We quote a fixed price after scoping the screens, data model and integrations together. App store fees, hosting, analytics and ongoing updates are not in the estimate and should be budgeted on their own.
