Choosing
Should you choose WordPress, a custom site or a website builder?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugins offer a choice of features, though someone needs to keep them updated for security. A custom Next.js site suits a different working pattern: it offers fast pages and can still include an editor, while changes to the site's structure may need a developer.
A headless setup combines a custom front end with a separate editor. It suits a site that needs both speed and substantial editing, with more parts to host and maintain. For a smaller site you want to run alone, a hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow is another option. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding.
Start with your editing routine. Tell us who will publish content and how often; we recommend WordPress or a custom Next.js build after understanding how your team works. That decision gives the design a practical foundation.
Local
What Lansing organisations need from their websites
Lansing's industries include healthcare and insurance. A clinic needs clear service pages, practitioner profiles, opening hours and a booking or call option that works on a phone. An insurance business can use separate service and specialist pages to help visitors check expertise before making contact. The right page structure gives each visitor a clear next step.
The area also has information technology and biotechnology companies. A startup launching a product or raising money needs a plain explanation of what it offers, supported by a way to join a waitlist or book a demo. Agreeing that visitor action early helps determine what the website needs to contain.
Rules
What a US website project has to handle
For a state or local government website, the US accessibility rule requires WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We agree the accessibility target in the brief and set up a clear heading structure in the build. We also plan page titles, descriptions and an XML sitemap from the start. The accessibility target guides the wider design and build work; headings alone do not cover it.
How it runs
How your website project runs with us
India time is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. We use video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board to discuss decisions and keep feedback moving across the difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do. We agree the scope around your business, audience and goals.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes before visual design. Review the content and its order at this stage; colours come later.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in Next.js or WordPress. Your choice follows the way your team needs to manage it.
- 04
Check
Proofread each page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages before launch. Small errors are easier to catch here.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather what you already have so we can discuss the site and its content.
- Vector logo files, brand colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- Real photos of your team, premises and completed work; book a photo shoot ahead if needed.
- Case studies, testimonials and client logos you have permission to show.
- A list of sites you like and dislike, with a reason for each choice.
- Account details for your domain, hosting, email and search tools, or the name of the person who holds them.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing?
The scope and readiness of your material shape the work.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build effort than pages that share a template.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish reduce the work; writing, photography or translation adds to it.
Migration
Moving old news, blog posts and downloads adds transfer and checking work.
Brand assets
An existing logo and style guide reduce design decisions; an unfinished identity adds them.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Lansing
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope of the page designs, the work involved in gathering content and the editor your team needs all shape the quote. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed. Decide early who will write service descriptions and gather photos.
Is a website still worth investing in?
A website gives you a place to explain your services and receive enquiries. Give each form a defined destination: decide who receives quote requests and what the visitor sees in the confirmation. On mobile, consider placing WhatsApp or click-to-call where a visitor can act.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your logo, colours and fonts and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. When reviewing the site, check each page on a phone as well as a desktop screen. That gives you a better view of what visitors see on smaller screens.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business's name and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, your team holds the accounts needed to manage the site after handover.
What happens after launch?
We offer ongoing support after launch. Within your business, choose who will keep news, project and job posts current. You can also track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions in analytics, then check which pages visitors started from before making contact.
