Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its choice of plugins gives you room to add features, but someone will need to keep them updated for security. A custom Next.js site is faster and more secure, and it can still include an editor for your team.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that you want to run on your own. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away from the platform later can mean rebuilding the site. Consider that trade-off before putting your content into a builder.
Your editing routine is a useful starting point. Decide who will publish updates and how often, then consider how much control they need over the pages. We recommend WordPress or a custom Next.js build after learning how your team works, so the platform fits the people who will use it.
Local
What Evansville organisations need from a website
Evansville’s economy includes manufacturing and professional services. A manufacturer or business supplier needs capability or product pages that explain what it offers, downloadable specifications and certifications, and a quote form that asks for enough detail to make a useful response.
Health services are part of the local economy, with providers including Deaconess Health System and Ascension St. Vincent Evansville. A clinic needs service pages, practitioner profiles and opening hours, plus a booking or call option that is easy to use on a phone.
The city also has universities and a medical school campus. An organisation handling enquiries needs to decide where each form sends its message, who receives it and what the visitor sees after submitting it.
Rules
Accessibility in a United States website project
For a business open to the public, US Department of Justice guidance says ADA Title III covers goods and services offered on the web, and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. We agree an accessibility target in your brief and use its success criteria to guide the page structure and forms we build. The W3C encourages using the latest WCAG version. Agreeing the target early gives you and the design team a shared reference for the work.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards, so feedback and decisions have a place to live between conversations. India is 10h30m (Eastern) to 13h30m (Pacific) ahead of the mainland US in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you before design starts.
- 02
Plan the pages
We make wireframes to settle page content and order. Your feedback here should focus on priorities; colours come later.
- 03
Design
We create the sitemap and page designs for desktop and mobile, then refine them using your feedback.
- 04
Build and check
We develop the site or editable CMS and test it on real devices and browsers. You proofread the pages, submit the forms and confirm who receives each message.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have and note what still needs arranging.
- A goal for the site and the person who will handle each type of enquiry.
- Vector logo files, brand colours and fonts, or a note that they need creating.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a line explaining each choice.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work; arrange photography ahead if needed.
- Case studies, testimonials, certifications and client logos you have permission to show.
- Account details for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console, or the account holder’s name.
Cost & time
What affects website cost and timing
The scope determines how much design, build and checking work is needed.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template need less.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add design and testing work.
Content production
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; photography, copywriting or translation add work.
Migration
Moving news, blog archives and downloadable files from an existing site adds transfer and checking work.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Evansville
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The work changes with the design and technical setup: a custom design takes a different scope from an adapted template, while a separate content editor and custom front end add hosting and maintenance work. Gathering service descriptions, case studies and photos also needs an owner.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Supply real headings and paragraphs early too: placeholder text can make a layout look finished, only for the page to need reworking when the actual content goes in.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people doing the work; that gives you control of the accounts without having to ask an agency or freelancer to return them.
Can the site send enquiries to the right people?
Yes. We set up contact and quote forms routed to the right inbox, along with WhatsApp and click-to-call. For each type of enquiry, decide which person should respond and what information they need from the visitor before the form fields are agreed.
What happens after launch?
We provide ongoing support after launch. Your team should also decide who will update news, projects and job posts, and review enquiries in analytics. Form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks can be tracked as conversions, with the starting pages checked to see where those enquiries began.
