Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
Cross-platform development suits many apps built around accounts, forms, bookings, payments or content. We usually use React Native, sharing one codebase across iOS and Android while adding native modules where a feature needs them. That gives you a shared foundation to develop and maintain, with room for platform-specific work when the app calls for it.
Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded app where you want screens to look alike across platforms. Your team needs to be comfortable working in Dart, and the choice of interface approach is worth discussing before designs are settled.
Native development uses Swift for iPhone and Kotlin for Android. It fits apps built around deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch. The trade-off is two codebases to build and maintain. We go native when the device features your app needs make that approach a better fit.
Local
What Doha organisations need from an app
In Doha’s commercial and financial setting, a business whose customers already use its web platform may want an app when those customers return frequently. Reusing their accounts and data gives them access to the same service on their phone, while staff continue working with the information behind it.
Doha is also an education centre, with schools and colleges. Where an organisation has staff carrying out inspections or other field work, an app can give them forms for photos, signatures and job locations, with records synced to the office when signal returns.
As a tourist city, Doha has reason to think about repeat visits as well as first visits. For shops and restaurants serving returning customers, useful app tasks include reordering and loyalty, supported by a quick checkout and well-timed notifications.
Rules
What an app project in Qatar has to handle
Qatar prohibits unsolicited direct marketing without the recipient’s prior consent. If you plan promotional notifications, we set up consent capture and targeted messaging so your team has a clear way to manage who receives them.
Arabic is the official language, and English is commonly used in commerce. If your audience needs both, we set up the screens and copy for each language, including right-to-left layouts for Arabic. That choice adds design and testing work across the screens that carry translated content.
How it runs
How a mobile app project runs with us
We are MSH Technologies, a studio in India, and we work with you remotely through video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board. IST is 2h30m ahead of Doha. The board keeps decisions and feedback visible between calls, so you can review the work without waiting for a meeting.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the main task you want customers or staff to complete.
- 02
Design
Put the clickable prototype in front of a few customers or staff and tell us where they hesitate. Changing a screen at this stage costs less than changing it after the build.
- 03
Build
Try test builds on your own phone. We use TestFlight for iPhone and Google Play testing tracks for Android, so your feedback comes from using the app.
- 04
Submit
We handle the store listings, submission and review. Give the listing content a careful check before it goes forward.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Your app, website and admin tools can share a backend, so bring a picture of the systems you already use.
- List the tasks users need in the first release, in the order they will do them.
- Note your website, booking, CRM or payment systems, their API availability and who holds admin access.
- Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects; Apple requires a link in the app and its listing.
- Check your Google Play account typenew personal accounts must complete a closed test before production release.
- Plan an in-app account deletion route if people can create accounts; deactivation alone does not meet Apple’s requirement.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
Offline access has different scopes: showing previously loaded data takes less work than creating and editing records offline, then resolving conflicts as they sync.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even with a shared backend.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that request data when opened.
Existing systems
A documented backend API reduces work; a new backend and admin panel can be as substantial as the app itself.
User content
Apps with user-generated content need filtering, reporting, blocking and published contact details under Apple’s requirements.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid during development
Asking everyone to sign in immediately
Let people use the app without logging in where it has no significant account-based features.
Requesting notification permission on first launch
Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications remain off until the user allows them.
Leaving control with a supplier
Keep developer accounts, signing access and code repositories in your business’s name so the app is easier to move.
Adding an analytics or advertising SDK without a privacy review
Update Google Play’s Data safety answers to cover data collected by third-party SDKs.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Doha
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. The work is shaped by the app screens and any native modules, the backend and staff admin tools, and whether you need in-app purchases or subscriptions. Once we have agreed the scope with you, we send a free quote.
Which company should I hire to develop my app?
Choose a team you can speak to directly about the work and the technology it proposes. You talk to the people who design and build your product when you work with us. If you already have a React web app, ask what logic could be shared with a React Native app and who will maintain it.
Can the app share data with my website?
Yes. We build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools, keeping customer accounts and data in one place. For notifications, that work also needs a sending service, rules for who receives each message and in-app settings where people can switch off categories they do not want.
What should I prepare for store review?
Make sure the review team can use the app. If it has a login, Apple expects a working demo account and a live backend at submission. Leave room in your launch plans for fixes and resubmission if a review identifies a problem with an incomplete or crashing build.
Who owns the app and its store accounts?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. We publish the app under your own developer accounts and handle the listings, submission and review. That gives your business control of the assets and accounts while we carry out the store work with you.
What happens after the app launches?
We provide ongoing support for bug fixes, operating system updates and new features. Analytics and crash reporting show where users leave a task and which devices crash; retention and the crash-free rate help you assess use and stability. Some JavaScript and content fixes can ship over the air, while native changes need a store release.
