Skills
What a good Node.js developer brings
Look for someone who can explain how the service will run after launch, including a plan to upgrade production applications as Node.js release lines reach end of life.
- Event loopThey move heavy image processing or reports to workers, queues or separate services so other requests can keep moving.
- Async codeThey handle rejected promises and use timeouts and retries when an external API is slow or unreliable.
- API designThey validate incoming data, use consistent routes and status codes, and return errors the client application can interpret.
- SecurityThey use hashed passwords, short-lived tokens or sessions, rate limiting and parameterised queries, and check dependencies for known vulnerabilities.
- Database workThey understand indexes, transactions and connection pools, and can read a slow query plan without relying solely on an ORM.
- Production diagnosisThey add structured logs, health checks and error tracking so a problem can be traced to a request.
Use cases
What you can hire Node.js developers for
Node.js suits APIs and services that spend much of their time waiting for databases or other APIs. It also lets your team use JavaScript or TypeScript on both the front and back end.
You might need an API for user accounts, payments and admin functions, a live dashboard using WebSockets, or a queue that handles catalogue imports and emails while the main app stays responsive. Node.js can also provide back-end services for a Next.js or React front end.
For heavy number crunching or machine learning, a separate Python, Go or Java service may fit the task better. Your Node.js application can call that service when it needs the result.
How hiring works
How hiring works with us
We provide developers who already work on our client projects, with a lead who reviews code and keeps the work on track. You work with people familiar with our delivery process.
- 01
Scope
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Design, build, launch and care follow as the product needs them.
- 02
Integration
Developers work in your repository, tickets and stand-ups. We agree the hours of overlap before work starts, so questions have a clear route to the right person.
- 03
Access
We start with individual accounts and the permissions needed for staging. Production access follows once the review process is in place.
- 04
Delivery
We review priorities with you through a shared backlog, and show progress through regular demos. You decide what should move up the list.
- 05
Agreement
We provide an NDA and hand code ownership to you. Set out the work and its acceptance criteria before development begins.
Time zones
Working hours between United Arab Emirates and India
India time is 1h30m ahead. The federal government working week in the United Arab Emirates runs Monday to Friday, with Friday a half day and Saturday and Sunday as the weekend. Agree your own team's availability and overlap with us at the start.
We use Slack, WhatsApp or email and hold regular calls. Written end-of-day updates cover progress, blockers and next steps; handover notes record unfinished work, open questions and decisions so you can pick them up when your day starts.
Rules
What your United Arab Emirates project has to handle
If your application collects personal data, the UAE Personal Data Protection Law requires consent for processing except in listed cases. Where consent is required, we set up the relevant consent capture in the application and plan the personal-data flows before connecting services.
For a business providing medical services, health data about those services is subject to restrictions on storage, processing and transfer outside the country. We set up staging data without patient details and plan where health data will be stored and processed, taking any applicable listed exception into account.
A DIFC entity sending personal data to India needs an applicable transfer exception. We plan the data access and set up the contract documentation around the chosen basis, such as the DIFC Standard Contractual Clauses.
Vetting
How to judge a Node.js developer before you commit
- Ask what happens when a request triggers a slow calculation. Look for an explanation of blocking other requests and a practical way to move the calculation elsewhere.
- Use a small paid taskan API with a few endpoints, input validation, a database, tests and a short README. Run it using the instructions provided.
- Ask how they would investigate an API that became slow last week. Listen for logs, tracing, database query plans and a comparison of recent deployments.
- Inspect error handling in a code sample. Unhandled promise rejections, empty catch blocks and secrets written into the code are warning signs.
Checklist
What to have ready before developers start
A few concrete decisions help a developer start on useful work.
- Rank your backlog or write a first set of tasks with enough detail to begin.
- Share an architecture overview, coding standards, branching and release process, plus instructions for running the project locally. Record any gaps found.
- Agree what done meansthe review rules, expected tests, and how work is deployed and approved.
- Plan the first week around environment setup, a product and code walkthrough, and a small real task touching the main parts of the system.
Cost & time
What affects the cost of hiring Node.js developers
Your plan is shaped by the work, the support it needs and how you want to manage it.
Seniority
Experienced developers cost more and need less supervision; junior developers suit well-defined tasks with closer review.
Commitment
Full-time, part-time and set-hours arrangements shape the plan, as does the notice needed to change it.
Overlap
The more of your working day a developer needs to cover, the more that requirement shapes availability and the plan.
Management
The arrangement differs when a lead plans work and reviews code or when you manage the developer directly.

Questions
Asked by businesses in United Arab Emirates
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to hire dedicated developers?
The cost depends on the skills and seniority you need, the hours you want covered and the commitment you choose. We offer full-time, part-time and set monthly-hours arrangements. Tell us about the framework or existing system involved, your working hours and who will answer the developer's questions so the scope can be agreed.
How do I hire a dedicated remote development team?
Start with the work you need delivered and how the developers will fit into your existing process. We can work with your current developers in your repositories, tools and review process. Keep early code reviews in place: they establish standards and catch misunderstandings while they are still inexpensive to fix.
Should I choose full-time or part-time Node.js development?
Choose full-time development for a full, ongoing backlog on one product. Part-time or hour-based work suits maintenance, a side project or tasks that arrive in bursts. You can scale the plan up or down, or pause it, as your needs change, so the arrangement follows the work you have ready.
What is included in ongoing development?
Ongoing development covers features, fixes and improvements across your website and apps. We also offer design support for new pages, interface updates and design system work. Reviews, tests and documentation are part of the code-quality work, giving your team material to use when maintaining the product.
Who owns the code and accounts?
You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep your repositories, cloud accounts and third-party services under your organisation, and confirm the assignment of intellectual property in the contract. That gives your business direct control over the assets used to run and maintain the product.
How do I measure progress without extra meetings?
Use merged pull requests, demos and shipped features to assess progress. Keep access individual instead of sharing an admin login, so it is easier to audit and remove when someone leaves. The plan can also be scaled up or down as your needs change.
