Skills
What a good iOS developer brings
Look for someone who can build a screen and explain how it connects to the rest of the app. These are useful skills to check against your own product.
- Swift and interfacesBuild screens in SwiftUI and work with UIKit when an existing app or a complex screen calls for it.
- Code structureSeparate screens, business logic and networking, and test the logic with XCTest or Swift Testing.
- Data and securityStore app data with SwiftData, Core Data or SQLite, sync it with a server, and keep tokens and passwords in the Keychain.
- PerformanceUse Instruments to investigate memory leaks, slow launches and battery drain before release.
- AccessibilitySupport Dynamic Type and VoiceOver labels, with sufficient contrast and layouts that adapt to different screen sizes.
- App ReviewDesign for Apple's rules, including in-app purchase for digital features and an app experience beyond a repackaged website.
Use cases
What you can hire iOS developers for
Shopping and finance businesses can use iPhone and iPad apps for customer interactions, while organisations with staff in the field can use privately distributed apps connected to their device management. Booking, fitness and media products are other examples of consumer app work.
You might need Apple Pay, HealthKit, widgets or Sign in with Apple, or help maintaining an older app: fixing crashes, adapting to new iOS releases or moving Objective-C and UIKit code towards Swift and SwiftUI.
Native iOS is a good fit when the iPhone experience or Apple-specific features are central, or when graphics, camera, audio or animation performance is a priority. If most users are on Android, or the product is mainly forms and content, consider a cross-platform or responsive web app.
How hiring works
How hiring works with us
We provide developers who already work on our client projects, with a lead who reviews code and keeps the work on track. You can start with an existing product or an agreed set of tasks.
- 01
Choose capacity
Full-time support suits an ongoing product backlog; part-time or hour-based support suits maintenance, a side project or work that arrives in bursts.
- 02
Agree the workflow
Developers use your repository, tickets and stand-ups, with overlap hours agreed up front so people know when to raise questions.
- 03
Start on real work
We set up the environment, walk through the product and codebase, and take on a small task that touches the main parts of the system.
- 04
Set access
Start with individual accounts and the permissions needed for staging; add production access once the review process is in place.
- 05
Keep ownership
Your domain, content and code belong to you, without lock-in.
- 06
Adjust capacity
Scale the plan up or down, or pause it, as the work changes.
Time zones
Working hours between Singapore and India
IST is 2h30m behind Singapore time. Agree a fixed overlap window for stand-ups and quick questions, and keep that window free of other meetings on both sides. We communicate through Slack, WhatsApp or email, with regular calls and direct access to the developers doing the work.
Make tickets useful on their own. Acceptance criteria, screenshots and links reduce back-and-forth across time zones; handover notes should record unfinished work, open questions and decisions so the next person online can pick up the thread.
Rules
Handling personal data in a Singapore iOS project
Remote work needs an access plan when your app contains personal data. Singapore's transfer limitation obligation applies when an organisation transfers personal data to an overseas data intermediary for processing. Where a contract is used for that transfer, it must specify the destination countries or territories and require comparable protection. We set up the transfer terms around the countries involved, and use individual accounts so access can be audited and removed when someone leaves.
Vetting
How to judge an iOS developer before you commit
- Ask about SwiftUI and UIKitHave the developer explain their choice for your app, including the oldest iOS version you need to support and any difficult screens.
- Use a small paid taskAsk for a SwiftUI app that loads an API list, caches it, shows errors clearly and includes unit tests.
- Discuss a rejectionAsk which App Review guideline was involved and what the developer changed to resolve it.
- Check account deletionIf your app offers sign-up, ask how users would start deleting their account inside the app, as Apple requires.
Checklist
What to have ready before developers start
Give the developer enough context to begin on useful work.
- Rank the backlog or prepare a first set of tasks with clear descriptions.
- Share your working hours, the overlap you need and who will answer questions.
- Define doneinclude review rules, expected tests, deployment and approval.
- Document the architecture, coding standards, branching and release process, plus how to run the project locally. Record gaps found during onboarding.
Cost & time
What affects the cost of hiring iOS developers
The scope and the way you organise the work shape the cost.
Seniority
Experienced developers need less supervision, while junior developers suit clearly defined tasks with close review.
Overlap
The amount of your working day a developer needs to cover affects availability and how the plan is set up.
Codebase
Legacy systems, niche frameworks and missing documentation narrow the available pool and slow onboarding.
Management
Consider whether a lead will plan work and review code or your own team will manage the developer directly.

Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to hire an iOS developer?
There is no fixed price. The skills and seniority you need, the capacity you choose, and whether you need separate native iOS and Android codebases all affect the scope. A simpler app for both platforms could use a cross-platform framework. Once the scope is agreed, ask us for a quote.
How do I hire remote iOS developers for an existing app?
Start by agreeing how the developers will join your existing workflow. We fit into your repositories, tools and review process. Early code reviews help establish standards and catch misunderstandings, so agree who will review the first changes and how feedback will reach the developer.
What is included when I hire developers from you?
We provide regular progress updates and demos, with direct access to the team. We also use reviews, tests and documentation to keep the work maintainable. You can inspect the work through demos and merged pull requests, instead of treating meeting attendance as the measure of progress.
Who owns the code and accounts?
You own the code, and we provide an NDA. Keep repositories, cloud accounts and third-party services under your organisation, then confirm intellectual property assignment in the contract. That gives your team control of the accounts used to build and operate the app.
Can you support an app after launch?
Yes. We can continue development as your needs change, including work around releases and crash reports. TestFlight supports beta testing, while App Store Connect handles releases and analytics. Services such as Sentry or Crashlytics provide crash reports for the team to investigate.
How do we decide what the developers work on first?
Use a shared backlog that you control and review with the team regularly. Put tasks in order before hiring, so the developer has useful work ready to start. A prepared backlog also helps avoid spending capacity on low-value items while decisions are still pending.
