Skills

What a good full-stack developer brings

A full-stack developer can take a feature across the database, API and interface, then test and deploy it. Ask how they handle the connections between those layers, since a change to a screen often reaches further than the screen itself.

  • InterfacesBuild screens that work on phones, load quickly and meet basic accessibility requirements, using a framework or server-rendered templates.
  • APIsValidate inputs, return consistent errors and check authentication and permissions on the server.
  • SecurityRecognise risks such as injection, exposed secrets, broken access control and unsafe file uploads.
  • DeploymentSet up environment variables, CI pipelines, logs and backups, with a rollback plan for a release that needs reversing.
  • Specialist supportKnow when detailed interface design, database tuning at scale or cloud security needs a specialist.

Use cases

What you can hire full-stack developers for

Full-stack work suits an early product or a feature that cuts across several layers. For an existing web app, a developer can change the database, API and screens without handing each part to a different person. Fewer hand-offs help decisions move faster.

You might need an internal dashboard that combines data from several systems, or a SaaS product with sign-up, billing, user roles, an admin panel and email notifications. Both need an interface and a back end that work together.

Write down your front end, back end, database and hosting before interviewing, then hire for that stack. Larger or more complex products can also need specialists, such as a front-end developer for a design system or a back-end engineer for scale.

How hiring works

How hiring works with us

You direct the work while we provide development capacity and a lead who reviews code and keeps work on track. A studio engagement usually moves recruitment, payroll, equipment and absence cover to the studio; direct hiring gives you more control and takes longer to set up.

  1. 01

    Choose capacity

We offer full-time, part-time or a fixed number of hours a month, so the plan reflects the work you have ready.

  2. 02

    Join your workflow

Developers work in your repository, tickets and stand-ups. We agree overlap hours up front for questions and decisions.

  3. 03

    Set up the project

Share an architecture overview, coding standards, branching and release process, and instructions for running the project locally. We write down gaps found during onboarding.

  4. 04

    Start with real work

The onboarding plan covers environment setup, a product and codebase walkthrough, and a small task touching the main parts of the system.

  5. 05

    Control access

We start with individual accounts and the least permissions needed in staging, adding production access once the review process is in place.

Time zones

Working hours between Germany and India

IST is 4h30m ahead, or 3h30m ahead during Central European Summer Time, from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. Agree a fixed overlap window for stand-ups and quick questions, and keep it free of other meetings on both sides.

We communicate through Slack, WhatsApp or email, with regular calls and direct access to the developers doing the work. Give tickets acceptance criteria, screenshots and links so people can make progress outside the overlap window. Handover notes should record unfinished work, open questions and decisions taken.

Rules

What a project in Germany has to handle

For a website using cookies or other device storage, we set up a consent banner and keep non-essential storage off until the user gives informed consent. Storage strictly necessary for a digital service the user explicitly requested is treated differently.

Access to personal data from India needs attention in the contract: India has no EU adequacy decision, and standard data protection clauses can provide an appropriate safeguard. We set up the clauses for the engagement.

When we act as your processor, we set up a processor contract and record your prior approval before using subcontractors as further processors.

Vetting

How to judge a full-stack developer before you commit

  • Ask for a feature walkthrough from database change to deployment. Listen for how the developer tested each layer and handled the release.
  • Use a small paid taska database, API, simple interface and sign-in, deployed to a live URL with a README. Review the working result and the instructions.
  • Check permissions. Ask how the server enforces a rule when the interface hides a button from a user without access.
  • Discuss an urgent fix. Look for tests, a staging check, small releases and a way to roll back if the change causes trouble.

Checklist

What to have ready before developers start

Prepare the work before hiring so a developer has useful tasks ready to pick up.

  • A ranked backlog or a first set of clearly described tasks.
  • The skills and seniority needed, including any framework or legacy-system experience.
  • Your working hours, the overlap you need and the person who will answer questions.
  • A definition of done covering review rules, expected tests, deployment and approval.

Cost & time

What affects the cost of hiring full-stack developers

The shape of the engagement and the state of your codebase influence the plan.

  • Commitment

Full-time, part-time and set-hour plans involve different levels of capacity, as does the notice needed to change them.

  • Overlap

The amount of your working day a developer needs to cover shapes availability and how the plan is set up.

  • Skills and codebase

Niche frameworks, legacy systems and missing documentation narrow the pool and slow onboarding.

  • Management

The plan changes when a lead plans work and reviews code, compared with you managing the developer directly.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Germany

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to hire a dedicated developer?

There is no fixed price. The work involved in code reviews and tests, and any need for specialist skills, help shape the scope. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed. Bring a description of the work you want covered so those needs are clear.

How do I hire a dedicated development team?

Start with the work you want the team to deliver, then agree how priorities and progress will be reviewed. We use a shared backlog that you control and review with us regularly. Regular demos show you the work in progress, and you have direct access to the team.

How can remote developers work with my existing team?

We fit into your existing repositories, tools and review process. Keep code reviews in place from the start: early reviews establish standards and catch misunderstandings while they are cheaper to fix. That gives your existing developers a practical way to check how new work fits the product.

Should I choose full-time or part-time development?

Choose full-time capacity for a full, ongoing backlog on a product. Part-time or hour-based work suits maintenance, a side project or tasks that arrive in bursts. We let you scale the plan up or down, or pause it as your needs change.

Who owns the code and project accounts?

You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. We provide an NDA and hand code ownership to you. Keep repositories, cloud accounts and third-party services under your organisation, and confirm the assignment of intellectual property in the contract.

Can you continue helping after launch?

Yes. We provide design support for new pages, interface updates and design system work, and you can scale capacity up or down as your needs change. Keep the next set of improvements visible to the team so you can decide which work should take priority.
